Super legumes: spicy chickpea dip

A powerful legume, chickpeas are a great source of protein, contain  manganese to support bone health, folate to boost heart health are versatile and highly nutritious
Chickpeas also contain both soluble and dietary fibre, equally important for maintaining a healthy digestive system. Dietary fibre being low in GI (glycemic index) may also assist with weight loss by making you feel fuller for longer.
A quick, easy and nutritious way to include more chickpeas in your diet can be to make the spicy spread below, delicious spread on organic rye bread or with carrot sticks, rice and oat cakes.
400g chickpeas, rinsed and drained
2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp turmeric
1 Tbsp ground cumin
1 Tsp dried chilli
3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Freshly ground black pepper
Simply blitz in a blender for 20/30 seconds whilst drizzling in the oil
