Sweet and healthy treats

There is nothing like having a sweet treat in the fridge that is healthy and full of goodness.

A true weekly staple in the Feeling Wholesome household for Julian and I, our lovely balls of yummy goodness.

Full of organic nuts, seeds, and dates you can create your own weekly treats in no time at all.

These delicious balls which we fondly name as our power balls due to their quick boost of chocolate, seeds, nuts and maca will also make a beautiful gift filled in a glass jar as a present complete with a homemade gift tag.

Making your own treats in place of sugar laden commercially made foods from the supermarket, will fill you with happiness knowing you have made them with love.

Enjoy.

What you will need:

Food processor

1 cup of mixed nuts, we use walnuts, almonds and cashews

1 cup of pitted dates

2 tablespoons of organic cacao

1 teaspoon of maca (optional)

A good squeeze of honey or rice malt syrup

Add Ins: mix and match or pick just one

A handful of pepitas

A handful of gogi berries

A handful of organic coconut flakes

Extra cacao to roll the balls in or blitzed 2 tablespoons of pepitas seeds to make a dust to roll them in, delicious

Method:

In a food processor blitz the nuts but not to a full crumb

Then, blitz the dates with the nuts

Add the cacao, honey or rice malt and blitz again until combined and the mixture is sticking together.

Tip out into a bowl and stir in the add in’s you would like, we love coconut, pepitas and gogi berries

Roll the mixture into small balls and roll in your choice of dust to finish

Store in the fridge and consume with 2 weeks if they last that long.
