Or, maybe just lately you have found yourself being overly critical and focusing on what’s wrong rather than what’s right?
Negative energy can feel like it hangs in the air just waiting to be absorbed into your every pore like a heavy blanket of despair and burden.
With society today, it can be easy for us to start absorbing these feelings through our day to day lives from so many places, such as social media, magazines, newspapers, even our friends, families and work colleagues. Our self-talk can also be a big contributor too.
It is no surprise negativity also has a detrimental impact not just our mind but also our body.
Medical professions have found that people with high levels of negativity are more likely to suffer from degenerative brain diseases, cardiovascular problems, digestive issues, and recover from sickness much more slowly than those with a positive mindset.
It is often hard to realise but making some simple changes including committing to a personal well-being strategy can clear the path to a brighter and happier outlook.

Tips & strategies to cope with external negativity.
Make a personal wellbeing strategy to steer clear of negativity. This could be writing down what makes you feel negative towards a person or a situation and how you can overcome it. Or devise a strategy to cope when you next encounter a situation that brings up those negative and heavy feelings. This could be a friend who keeps running down another friend, or a family member causing a rift between siblings. Your strategy maybe to politely excuse yourself from the discussion or share how you feel when there is a negative vibe surrounding you.
Reflect on what doesn’t serve you that brings negativity into your life. It could be the friends you keep, the habits you maintain or your work place. Consider making adjustments or alternative arrangements to your surroundings. This could be sharing with your friend how you feel when they are negative and offering to help them see things differently.
If you are feeling negativity, take time to think how you can reframe your thoughts into a more positive picture. Repeat the words to disarm the feelings.
Surround yourself with things that bring you joy, fresh flowers in your home, a morning walk in the early sun or a long bath of an evening. Take this time to remind yourself of at least 5 things you are truly grateful Equally smiling can bring positive energy when you’re feeling frustrated too.
Plus, having a regular yoga & meditation practice in your everyday life promotes a positive mental outlook.
