Today, in the Western world we have a high rate of anxiety and stress.
More than ever we can find ourselves questioning our self worth, our life compared to others, our happiness and what we have or have not achieved so far in life.
There is one contributing factor to all of this, our self talk.
How we talk to ourselves has an incredible impact on how we view ourselves, our life and happiness.
Positive self talk has been proven to be a powerful tool to change neural pathways by connecting a new behaviour to change an existing and obstructive behaviour.
Neuroplasticity gives us the ability to rewire our brains, to change the same neural pathways we carve for ourselves with the same thought patterns and believes. We can write new stories, improve our self talk and see ourselves with love and self compassion rather than with criticism and sadness.
Little steps can soon turn into bigger changes as we learn to take back control of how we view ourselves and the world around. All of a sudden you may feel people around you are showing more love and care, you may feel you start to notice things differently in a more positive light, all of these things may have been there all along.
You may like to write down at the end of every day 10 things that brought you joy and happiness and at least 3 of these should include moment you felt proud about yourself. These may be small to start with but recognising positive emotions will pave the way to inner happiness.
